We’ve heard from a number of paddlers wondering when the 2021 Park-to-Park Paddle will take place. The unfortunate answer is there won’t be one. But we have a suggested alternative.
Planning under the shadow of COVID, we could not figure out a way to hold P2P safely, especially for the usual shuttle by bus to bring participants to the launch after they take their vehicles to the takeout. With coordinating fire rescue teams, club instructors, lock operatorsfs and the usual high numbers of paddlers, it’s not an event easily scheduled spontaneously.
We suggest you try the Appleton Locks Paddle. Not the same workout as the 8-mile P2P, the paddle from Lutz Park in Appleton to Sunset Park in Kimberly offers a tour of all four of Appleton’s historic, hand-operated locks. What the 6.5-mile paddle lacks in distance, it makes up for in heritage and time to rest in the locks.
The Appleton Locks Paddle will be in Aug. 21. Meet starting at 8:30 a.m. and launch at 10 a.m.

On your web page on the Appleton Locks paddle, it shows 2020 canceled and stay tuned for 2021 and shows a date of August 1st. Was that 2020 or is it for 2021? Really hoping to do it this again year.
Good catch! Yes, the date for 2021 has not yet been determined. The Aug. 1 date is from the canceled 2020 paddle. We have updated the web page accordingly. Please keep checking back to see when a date has bee selected. Thank you!
The lock to lock paddle has always been fun and awesome! It would be great if you had it early August of this year. Thanks
Any updates on when this will happen
As of today, we have tentatively set the date for August 21. We are still coordinating with our support partners for this event.
