Our 2016 Annual Meeting on Jan. 30 at Legends in De Pere drew more than 50 people for a business meeting, two highly informative presentations and a fine meal and fellowship.
John Bacon described his effort to have the chain of islands between the tip of Wisconsin’s Door Peninsula and the Garden Peninsula in Upper Michigan declared the Grand Traverse Islands National Lakeshore. He spoke about the wealth of lighthouses and other historical areas scattered across the island chain and the benefit of uniting recreational areas in two states. More information is available at GrandTraverseIslands.com.
Ken Braband encouraged members to inform disabled veterans they know of the opportunity to learn whitewater or coastal kayaking through the new Team River Runners Chapter in Green Bay. Braband brought the organization with him when he moved to the area from Milwaukee, where he was active in the chapter there. People interested in volunteering, participating or supporting the group financially can get more information at the group’s website.
